Profile

Man Si (formerly known as Emily Kueis; b. 1994) is a Hong Kong-based artist whose work navigates both figuration and abstraction, developing a pictorial language that is open-ended, symbolic, and emotionally resonant. She is known for an intuitive painting process involving thin oil washes, raw or mineral pigments, and charcoal applied directly onto canvas or paper. Rejecting formal academic approaches to composition, her method allows imagery to surface gradually through mark-making, layering, and erasure. This process reflects a psychological impulse, or simply a yearning for connection, shaped by the energies of her immediate urban environment.
